“Mercatore 60” floorstanding globe on wooden base – Light Blue Political
Gerardus Mercator was a Flemish mathematician, astronomer, cartographer. He is best known for his work in cartography, in particular the world map of 1569 based on a new projection which represented sailing courses of constant bearing as straight lines. He was the first to use the term “atlas” for a collection of maps. From him this floor standing globe takes its name. The map, updated from our team of cartographers, boasts incredible details in terms of countries and major cities, rivers, seas and mountains. The awesome wooden stand gives maximum balance and stability.
